Hello shoppers!!
I decided to do things slightly differently today and focus on one room, and more specifically one space in my home. My vanity. If you’ve been here a little while you’ll know I’m in the process of converting a spare bedroom into a dressing room slash office. I got three of these Mustard Made cabinets to house sweaters, trousers, etc. and am using the top of each for (aesthetically pleasing) storage as well.
A few months ago I saw Cam from Southern Charm post this beautiful bamboo style vanity shelf on her instagram and I bookmarked it immediately; it was pricey but I die for anything bamboo. When the holidays rolled around I decided to splurge and get it for myself. The first item on today’s shopping list is said vanity shelf — but after that I thought it might be fun to do an edition with everything I keep on it (minus the things that are discontinued or sold out or that I just have up there to fill space.) These are some of my go to holy grail beauty products and the bits and bobbles I keep out to make my environment feel pretty.
Napa Home & Garden Bamboo Shelf: As you can see from the pic, this baby holds a ton of stuff and it does it all so glamorously. It’s sturdy, and it came in one piece so no assembly. It also has little fixings to hang it to a wall but I prefer it just on top of a dresser. I bought mine of Houzz because that’s where it was cheapest but a few other retailers have it.
Chanel Skincare: On the top shelf to the left, you can see all my daily skincare products. I swear by Chanel skincare — I’ve been using it since middle school just graduating to richer and more wrinkle conscious lines as I’ve gotten older and it has never ever failed me. My current routine includes: Le Tonique as a toner, followed by Le Lift Lotion, then the No. 1 Serum. During the day I use the Le Lift Creme Huile and then the Biossance Squalane you see next to it; at night I swap the Creme Huile for the Le Lift Creme de Nuit. For body and a little extra hydration I sometimes spritz on the No. 1 mist which is tucked behind my squalane. On the top shelf I also keep my Les Beiges luminous body oil which I use all over my face under my makeup for extra glow; this version has been discontinued but they make something similar in the Mademoiselle fragrance line.
Avene Skincare: I keep a few Avene products on hand at all time; I find them to be a good, affordable companion to my Chanel routine. I use the Avene Scar gel on the surgical scars I have to lighten any discoloration; I use their blemish control to spot treat blemishes overnight and it works like a dream; and I use their Tolerance Masque to treat dry spots on my face.
Hermes Nail Polish: On the bottom shelf to the right you will see my Hermes nail polish collection. And now you might be thinking, Caroline, that is literally batshit — just buy nail polish at the drugstore like a normal person. Or better yet get your nails done! But here’s the thing: I cannot for the life of me, bring myself to get a manicure — maybe it’s an OCD thing, or an anxiety thing, but I like to have control over my own nails and swap them out whenever I can and after trying virtually every nail polish on the market — both high and low end products — I can confirm that the Hermes one is worth literally every penny. As I write this I have my nails painted the perfect sheer pink (Rose Coquille) from the collection; I painted them a week ago, slapped on a layer of their top coat, and it still looks good as new. Buy it or gift it, it’s perfect.
Lord Jones CBD lotion: I swear by this shit; not only do I use it on my body for pelvic pain, I use it all over my face when I have a headache and it works so well without disrupting my skin. I’m never without it.
Neutrogena Norwegian Handcream: Another cream I am never without; I use this to spot treat dry patches on my skin and on my hands in the winter. It’s fragrance free and boy oh boy does it WORK.
La Perla Signature Luminous Fragrance: My new go-to! Full disclosure this was gifted to me but I truly love it; it lasts all day and it has the coziest, warmest, most romantic scent. Perfect for winter. I got the set so you’ll also spot the hand cream and a travel size version of the perfume as well!
Dior Nail Glow: One of my few non-Hermes holy grail nail products, I love this because you can just swipe one or two coats on without a top coat and it looks so pretty and finished. The easiest manicure you’ll ever do.
Ordinary Lash Serum: I use this day and night on my brows and lash line and it really.. like really works. I noticed growth in just about a week.
Orna Pillar Candles: Onto decor — if you know me, you know I am an Orna STAN. The two pillar candles on the bottom shelf (as well as the pink candle next to the vanity shelf) are from her small business where she hand paints the literal most beautiful candles you will ever find.
Murano Cherries: I saw these a few years ago on one of my fav vintage instagram accounts and scoured Etsy for more. I found a shop that imports them directly from Murano, Italy and you can order them in sets of 3, 5, or 10. (These also make great gifts!)
