Hello shoppers,
If you’re like me you have a few sentimental brands that you saw when you were young and just pined your whole life to be a grown up and wear. For me, La Perla was like, top of that list. I remember driving by the store where I live and seeing the fancy lingerie on the mannequins and thinking it was the peak of womanhood and adulthood and glamour to own something from there. As soon as I was old enough to wear a bra, I begged my mom to buy me a La Perla and I have been hooked ever since.
A few months ago I was watching a Michelle Wang makeup video on YouTube and she was raving about the new La Perla lipstick. Now, I’m not someone who has a ton of faith in brand crossovers; I like to buy my skincare and makeup from skincare and makeup brands, or at least brands that have been doing it for decades. The Gucci lipstick for example, is super chic and comes in a great range of colors, but it’s far from the tube I reach for the most in my drawer; for the price and the hype, it’s just not what I want it to be.
But, like I said, I have a love for La Perla that runs deep, so I gave it a try.
It immediately became my new favorite formula — fast forward to now, I own literally every shade and I also regularly reach for their brown and violet mascara. Their signature fragrance has become one of my go-to scents. So this week I’m going to break down all my fav items from their line — if you’re someone reading this who wears makeup, I promise you, you need something from their collection. But I also want to stress that if you’re looking for a gift for someone who wears makeup, it cannot be beat. The product? Perfection. The packaging? Peak luxury. And they’re also like, super duper green and environmentally friendly; the whole line is vegan and cruelty free and they have a ton of information on their website about the production of their products and how they’re committed to humane manufacturing standards.
The Lipstick: This will be your favorite lipstick. I have gifted it to easily a dozen people and all of them have become instant devotees. If you’re looking to try a classic red, Venetian red is it. I gave it to the costume designer for the Nanny as a gift a few months ago and even she was like “this is the perfect red.” My personal favorite is Tangelo red, which has a slight orange tint to it, and I love it in the summer with a mostly bare face. The Nude red is my go to neutral BUT they also just released an entire collection of new nude shades that I’m just starting to explore. Rosewood red is the perfect neutral romantic pink and I love pairing it with a light brown liner and a natural tone flushed cheek.

The Lip balm: A super similar formula to the lipstick, these are a little more sheer and a perfect product to swipe on when you want a wash of color that is low maintenance — truly I apply it without a mirror when I’m like, in the car or walking into somewhere and realize I forgot to apply my lip. Bitten and Petal are the OG’s and both absolutely perfect but I have been loving Espresso for a chic sort of 90’s sheer nude.
The Mascara: Ugh, where do I even begin. I think I’ve talked on here about how Chanel Le Volume is my holy grail for are-they-falsies mascara but when I want a natural, my lashes but better look I always reach for my La Perla. The formula is really wet which means you can keep layering and working with it and it doesn’t clump. I wear the brown all the time and I just splurged on the violet and it’s just a super unique and delicate look on brown eyes.

The body care products: Ok look, I can go on about how these smell like heaven and how they feel like the body care version of a silk La Perla nightie, but what I really want to rave about is how the packaging looks like a literal piece of artwork AND it’s designed to be recyclable and refillable. These are also some of my favorite things to gift because they are indulgent and thoughtful and the kind of thing someone might not treat themselves to, but that they’ll absolutely enjoy.
La Perla Signature Scent: The entire La Perla fragrance line is worth digging into (highly recommend this super affordable little sampler) but this is my favorite and easily one of my all time favorite fragrances across other brands too. It’s sweet and feminine without being saccharine. It has great lasting power and it looks super girly and pretty on your dresser too.
