Hello shoppers!
Oh I am so excited about todayโs edition. If youโve been reading along, you know that I absolutely detest summer, I think I have said it in literally every newsletter since May. But itโs finally almost nearly fall and something about this time of year invigorates me and makes me want to change up my space to maximize the coziness of it and to start fresh in my favorite season.
In the last couple weeks Iโve treated myself to a few major wishlist items to accomplish the task of creating the perfect rooms to read in, to sleep in, and to just enjoy watching the leaves change outside my window. And these are hardly seasonal purchases โ they are all things that will stay in my space year round, but thereโs something about the promise of cold weather on the way that inspires me to revamp my surroundings and these are some of the things that have made me the happiest.
Grace of Glaze Pottery: Probably the thing Iโve lusted after the longest on this list โ I found Simoneโs beautiful pottery on Instagram and I have been waiting for so long to pick just the right selection of her pieces to add to my space. The sort of, aura like aesthetic is so clean and entrancing and I truly have never seen anything like it. We already have a kitchen full of dinnerware so I wanted to use her ceramics in my bedroom and dressing room/office โ I ended up getting one of her cups to keep my favorite lip glosses on my desk, a small plate to display my mini perfumes, and a desert bowl to keep a select few necklaces. Simone kindly even added a little super tiny plate as a gift and I nearly cried when I saw it, it is so precious. Her pieces are also dishwasher safe which I love because I feel like a lot of pottery you have to choose between beauty and functionality, and with her work you get both. I canโt wait to hopefully fill a kitchen one day with a full set! I also think her pieces make wonderful gifts, the plates can easily be used on a vanity, a set of the cups makes a really thoughtful and unique addition to any kitchen.
Schweitzer Linen Shams: Iโve had the Schweitzer carnations duvet and sham set on my bed for years and itโs the most beautiful bedding; yes itโs pricey but the quality is just impeccable. It feels like the kind of bedding youโd get at a 5-star hotel. Iโve been slightly resetting the aesthetic of my bedding (more on this in a moment) and wanted to get a new pair of king shams to sit behind my current ones and to create more fullness in my bed. I settled on these white ones with delicate green embroidery and I couldnโt be happier. They make me feel like Iโm sleeping in one of those Instagram accounts that post pictures from Italian villas where the bedding has been handed down through generations. So classy, so timeless, and so delicately feminine.
Projektityyny quilt: So the reset of my bedding aesthetic came with this purchase; I keep a quilt at the foot of my bed, and for a while now itโs been a robinโs egg blue floral Laura Ashely with matching shams. But I have wanted a Projektityyny quilt for years and I finally, after probably hundreds of hours deciding on the fabric and style and color combination, picked one and treated myself to it (it was part of their ongoing End of the Line Sale.) The specific pattern I got (a pink and green, hence the green embroidered shams!) is no longer available, but they have more than enough to choose from on the website. The craftsmanship is so meticulous, the weight of the quilt is perfect โ not too heavy but substantial enough to keep you warm, and the design is everything I dreamed and more. Even though the patterns are so different from the Schweitzer, it works because the Projektityyny is eclectic and cozy and really complements the space so well.
H&M Vases: Iโm over some of my floral arrangements to faux flowers just to cut back on the amount of time I spent pruning, changing the water, and washing vases, but I find if anything gives away a flower for being fake, itโs the stem. So Iโve been on the hunt for some opaque vases that are unique and modern (think Gustaf Westman/Scandi vibes) but that also wonโt cost me six hundred dollars. I came across these on H&M and decided to give them a shot. Iโve never purchased from their home store but I was so pleasantly surprised. Theyโre substantial, heavy and thick, and look a lot more expensive than they were. I have long stem faux roses in this purple one, and faux peonies in the green
.
Afloral Ceramic Vase: I buy almost all my faux flowers from Afloral and when I saw this on their sale section I thought, how could I not for that price? Iโve been on the hunt for a pitcher style vase and I like that this one has an earthy aesthetic and looks like I picked it up at a small pottery shop in a seaside village.
Biordi Ceramic Plates: Youโve heard me rave about my Sicilian vase from Biordi on here before and naturally Iโm always posting her on my Instagram โ what I didnโt realize is that the small business gives $100 gift cards each month to a winner of their photo contest and somehow that just happened to be me! So I used it to buy two dishes โ this hand-painted beauty with a nude motif, and this trinket dish with the words โTo Trust is Good, to Not is Betterโ painted on it in Italian. I hung the plate on my wall using a display kit, and the trinket dish is on my dresser as a helpful reminder :)
Projektityyny Jacket: Ok, not technically a decor purchase, but definitely a fall purchase โ I have wanted one of these quilted jackets for as long as Iโve known they exist and Iโve been waiting for this particular one to go on sale. I know a lot of the TikTok girlies are all about quilted jackets right now and I think this Finnish brand really flies under the radar and now that Iโve snagged mine and donโt have to worry about it selling out, Iโm officially letting the cat out of the bag that they have an amazing selection of really unique ones.
Material Girl Reads:
I just finished Jo Nesboโs The Leopard which I loved. Like all the Nesboโs, it keeps you guessing until the very last chapter which always impresses me no matter how many times I see him pull it off. Definitely not for the faint of heart because itโs pretty high on the violence and gore scale, but if you like that sort of emotionally fraught detective fighting a slippery serial killer type plot, youโll love this. I do think you might want to read a few other in the Harry Hole series first because this book does reference a lot to previous plot developments, especially from the Snowman which is a great starting point for Scandi crime fiction in general! I also just read Swedish Cults which is a massive deviation from my usual vibe. Itโs a short story collection and the reviews liken it to Lovecraft โ itโs more paranormal than Iโm used to which was a little hard for me to wrap my head around for the first few stories but by the end I was hooked. I still prefer my monsters real but I think if you like surrealist horror (and you have a high tolerance for graphic violence and sex) itโs quite the ride.
