Emotional Support Lip Products 💄
For your bathroom, your pocket, your bedside, your purse, and everywhere in between
Hi shoppers!
I feel like it’s been a minute since we did a ~themed~ newsletter, so today I want to talk to you about a topic I am deeply passionate about and that is my emotional support lip balm, gloss, stick — the lip product I carry around all day with me even room to room. The formula varies depending on the weather, the look I’m going for, or the activities I’m doing that day — sometimes it’s even about a scent I’m craving — but there’s something about having a tube of lip gloss next to my laptop while I’m working or on my bedside table while I read that makes me feel really secure and prepared.
I also have probably 70 odd lip products because I cannot resist when a new one hits the market; I have to try it and I am always convinced it is *the* one that will change my life, solve my problems etc. etc. — and while none of them have come quite that far, here are my most loved, my most used, and my most versatile.
Rhode Lip Treatment: We went over this a few weeks ago so I won’t bore you by rehashing anything, but yes we are team Selena, and yes this is also worth the hype — two things can be true! I have the caramel and the vanilla scents and they are so delicate and delicious and the finish is so glossy and long lasting. It’s incredibly comfortable on the lips, not too goopy, not too thin, and I actually have noticed a real difference in the plumpness and appearance of fine lines in my lips since using it. It’s currently sitting next to my laptop as I write this.
Summer Fridays Lip Balm: The other hybrid balm/gloss I reach for the most is the Summer Fridays formula. I have it in every scent but I reach for the vanilla and the pink sugar the most though, but the tinted ones are really beautiful too. They have the perfect amount of color and are easy to layer or blend out and really flattering for lots of different makeup looks and skin tones. I also love the silicone-y tip that really hugs the contour of your lip and that the scent is delicate and comforting without being overpowering. I keep one of the clear vanilla ones by my bedside at all times!
Chanel Lip Balm: This is a beside the bed lip balm, in my opinion, just because you have to apply it with your finger — something I firmly believe should not be done outside of the house. Germs! Ew! But a coat of this before bed each night will drastically change the health of your lips. In the winter I suffer with incredibly dry skin and my lips crack and peel and are really painful; this hit an all time awful at the height of covid with masking and I tried a million lip balms on the market before splurging on this one, which healed my lips in just about 48 hours. It’s a hefty price point but I promise — PROMISE — it’s worth it. Consider it skincare, not just lip balm. It’s delicately and lightly scented and does leave a gentle sheen on the lips if you are inclined to wear it out and want to just have a simple light makeup look.
Charlotte Tilbury Crystal Happykiss: This is a super underrated product in my opinion — I came across it thanks to my sister because she’d always have this perfectly high shine natural pinky glow to her lips and I was like what the fuck is that and of course it was Charlotte. It has the most delicate vanilla scent and a very versatile and subtle pink-y glow that is sheer enough that it looks like nothing but your lips. It’s also so buildable; one coat will give you a really natural hydrated look but if you layer it, it gives a really shiny almost gloss like finish with a balm texture.
